Bushmans River Cottage is tucked away on a bank of the Bushmans River in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The property comprises just under 6 hectares of pristine and diverse natural ecosystem including woodland, grassland and wetland and is bordered by the Bushmans River and a private game reserve. Part of the Ghio wetlands falls within the boundary. Over 200 different bird species have been recorded in the immediate area, including the Fish Eagle, Secretary Bird, Malachite Kingfisher and Red Hornbill.
Access to the cottage is either via dirt road and through a private game reserve, or by boat from the Kenton-on-Sea marina, approximately 8km downriver. 4x4 vehicles are essential during the wet season, and recommended at all times.
